Google Checkout has been released today the service offers a Faster??? way to pay for things you buy online. Customers who sign up for the free service can type their credit card information into Google system once and then reuse it on any website that supports it without the need to re-enter the information again.
It sounds cool but definitely not new. The only thing new about it is the fact that its the only system Google introduced as a production version (no beta). And obviously you cant role out any application that deals with people financial information and call it beta without scaring people off.
I am a big fan of Google well everybody loves Google???. However, I am skeptical about this checkout thing.PayPal almost offers the same thing but they are only integrated with few websites. Even MS Passport Network wasn’t that successful convincing e-commerce websites to use their system.
What would make Google more successful?
I do acknowledge Google’s influential power in the IT domain but what about their power in the business world where numbers are the most important things? Can Google convince CFOs that their numbers are better than their competitors?
For every $1 you spend on AdWords, you can process $10 in sales for free through Google Checkout If you exceed your free transaction processing for the month, or you don’t advertise with AdWords at all, you’ll only be charged 2% plus $.20 per transaction.
only time will tell
